Engage in activities that complement your current academic program.

Serve in rural and/or underserved communities.

Receive a $1,000 stipend for your two-year commitment.

The program is FREE
-
Be enrolled in an Alabama college-level health professions training program of at least two years in length by September 30, 2023

Be a health professions student of an approved program (see list below)

Commit to a two-year AHEC Scholars activity agenda

Cutting edge curriculum designed with 8 core topics that are critical for our future workforce
-Interprofessional Education (IPE) or Team-Based Training
-Behavioral Health
-Social Determinants of Health
-Cultural Competency as part of Patient-Centered Care
-Practice Transformation
-Current and Emerging Health Issues
- Connecting Communities and Supporting Health Professionals
-Virtual Learning and Telehealth
-
Clinical training experiences are interprofessional.
-
Scholars will train with at least one other healthcare discipline to be better prepared to enter the workforce as part of a team.

Participants will receive 40 hours of training (both clinical and didactic for a total of 80 hours) each year of the program.
