Alabama AHEC is in the News!
CHECK OUT THE VIDEO ON WBRC! People with the University of Alabama's College of Continuing Health Sciences will work with AHECs, or Alabama Area Health Education Centers, to extend school and training opportunities to high school students in rural areas.
They'll focus on kids in high school from rural areas to consider careers in healthcare and convince them of why it's important to use those skills in places similar to their hometowns.

Living Rural; Needing Health Care: Health Professional Shortage Areas
Alabama, by geographic definition, is basically a rural state - with more than 80% of the state or 54 counties out of a total of 67 - classified as rural. High school health career academy begins Jan. 27
There’s a new health careers enrichment program for 10th-12th grade students who live in Lowndes County! The Lowndes County Health Career Academy (Academy) will open for Saturday school on January 27 and run through August 11, 2018. Applications are available at the local high schools: the Calhoun School, Central High School, and Lowndes Academy.
