Being Heart Healthy and Stroke Free has several meanings:

  • Preventing heart disease, heart attack or a stroke.

  • Reducing the risk of a second heart attack or stroke.

  • Improving the quality of life and managing complications that can occur with heart disease, heart attack, or stroke.

Everyone is at risk for heart disease, heart attack and stroke, but some people are at higher risk than others. It is important to know the risks!

 

It is possible to reduce the risk of heart disease, heart attack and stroke.This often means making or maintaining healthy lifestyle changes and/or taking medicine prescribed by a doctor – all proactive measures that could affect an individual’s risk for heart disease, heart attack or stroke.
